James Cleverly, the first MP who recently announced he will run for the Conservative leadership, made his first stop for his UK campaign in Milton Keynes over the weekend.
Following his announcement two weeks ago to run for the Conservative leadership, James Cleverly has begun his campaign tour, with his first stop being in Milton Keynes.
Cleverly took to X on Sunday (August 4) evening and said, “Members are the heart of our movement. It’s great to be in Milton Keynes meeting the amazing campaigners and activists there and listening to what they want for the future of the Conservative Party.”
On July 23, Cleverly announced his run for the Conservative leadership in a video he posted on social media.
In a post where he went back to his childhood home, located in South East London, Cleverly said the Conservatives needed to “re-establish our reputation as the party who, in government, helps grow the economy, helps people achieve their goals, their dreams, and their aspirations.”
Johnny Luk, former Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Milton Keynes Central, attended the campaign. Luk also took to X saying, “I was so proud to introduce my friend @JamesCleverly today, who spoke passionately and convincingly to our local activists. James embodies unity, leadership, experience, kindness and commitment to public service. That's what we need to earn the right to serve again. He has what it takes to lead our party and our country.”
