'IT issue' causes delays at Milton Keynes-based key worker rapid test centre

An "IT issue" is causing delays to operations at the Milton Keynes-based rapid test centre for key workers.

The centre, located within Central Milton Keynes Library, is specifically for individuals that cannot work from home during the pandemic.

Key workers are encouraged to attend the test centre at any point during opening hours and do not need to book an appointment.

Usually, the testing process, which is for people without coronavirus symptoms, takes only a few minutes - and results are delivered to the recipient's phone within an hour.

However, Milton Keynes Council has announced today (5/3) that they are currently experiencing technical issues so there may be delays.

A spokesperson for Milton Keynes Council said: "We're having an IT issue at the Central Library test centre at the moment, so it's taking a little longer to help than usual."

The rapid test centre is open until 16:30 today.
