What to buy a teenager for their sixteenth birthday can be tricky, but Owain Wilks decided that his milestone birthday would be a little different – he wanted to complete a 'Year of Giving Back.'
Owain has the genetic condition Noonan Syndrome, which has presented its challenges, but Owain and his family have been supported by various charities, and this is his way of showing support to those that have supported him.
“This journey has been filled with love and encouragement, and now it’s time to pay it forward,” explained his mother, Gemma Wilks.
“This initiative is not just about celebrating a birthday; it’s about making a meaningful impact in our community. We believe that every small act of kindness can create ripples of change, and we want to be part of that movement.”
On November 1, the inspirational teen will take on his biggest challenge so far – a skydive in support of Milton Keynes-based charity The Henry Allen Trust. It's also a great way to show his passion for Ghostbusters and his alter ego, Cadet Wilks.
“I am doing it to encourage others that it is good to be themselves and to try tricky things,” he told MKFM, “I want to help Dawn and Mark continue Henry's Wish of supporting children with cancer. I am really excited to show that anything is possible.”
