Insect bombs cause multiple fire crews call out in Milton Keynes

Insect bombs were responsible for a false alarm which had mobilised seven appliances and fire crews, and three officers, yesterday afternoon.

Crews from West Ashland, Newport Pagnell, Broughton, Buckingham and Bedfordshire attended the 10-story block of flats at Witan Gate East following a smoke alarm activation and reports of a smell of smoke.

The location of the smoke was identified as being a flat on the first floor, and firefighters identified the cause as insect bombs.

They ventilated the flat and spoke with the occupant.
