Hundreds of people have applauded a teenager for helping a woman that was 'struggling' to carry her shopping to the bus stop.

A local woman took to Facebook on Tuesday (9/3) to publicly thank a college student who, after seeing that the woman had difficulty carrying her shopping, decided to help.

Suzie* did her shopping at Morrison's in Central Milton Keynes and says that she did not realise how heavy her shopping, including a large box of cat food, would be.

She started to walk back to Milton Keynes Central to get her bus, and a "young lad" called James* soon swooped in to help.

Suzie explained: "I was struggling to get back to the train/ bus station. [James] was coming the other way, saw that I was struggling and very kindly carried the majority of my shopping, made sure I made it safely to the bus stop and made sure I was OK.

"Thankyou [James] if you're reading this or if you know him please pass on my thanks."

This social media post, which was shared in a community group, quickly prompted hundreds of likes and comments - and was even seen by the boy himself.

James responded to the post by saying: "I never caught your name yesterday, it’s a pleasure to help you out! I just hate seeing all these people walk past like they can’t see someone struggling."

The teenager's kind-hearted gesture was applauded by commenters, with some saying that the news had made their day.

One resident said: "Top lad. If only everyone could go out of their way for others a bit more, the world would be a kinder place.

Another added: "How lovely - proves how kind & thoughtful some youngsters can be."

MKFM would love to hear about other gestures of kindness in the community. Do you have a positive news story to share? Email news@mkfm.com.
