Huge power cut affects Central Milton Keynes

    MKFM understands Central Milton Keynes is currently being affected by a power cut.

    Update - National Grid say power is now restored.

    "We did have a power cut incident raised at 12:27pm this afternoon, affecting 188 properties. We successfully restored all supplies in the area by 1:28pm this afternoon," a spokesperson said.

    centre:mk shopping centre was evacuated and emergency services were on the scene in Central Milton Keynes, amid reports of a huge power cut.

    It is not yet confirmed if the incidents are related.

    National Grid say they are aware and engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible. 

    Milton Keynes City Council has taken to social media to state that it is being affected by an external power cut expected to last the rest of today (29 February).

    "A power cut caused by external issues is affecting our phone lines and Civic offices. It's expected to last the rest of today (29 Feb). Sorry you can't get through by phone right now. Please report any issues online or call us again tomorrow," a spokesperson said.

    "If you have an appointment with our Registrars today, please don't attend. We'll be in touch to rearrange it as soon as we can."
