Huge new miniature cultural attraction announced for Milton Keynes

A major national miniature and cultural attraction 'celebrating the spirit, heritage and innovation of the United Kingdom' will open in the new city in 2028.

Model Britain will showcase the best of British creativity, technology and design, featuring intricately detailed scenes spanning iconic landmarks, transport, landscapes, and historic moments, brought to life through cutting-edge craftsmanship and storytelling.

The location is yet to be announced, but the soft opening will be in October 2028 – coinciding with the 80th birthday of His Majesty King Charles III.

As the project continues to build pace, Model Britain has announced the appointment of Dame Alison Peacock DBL DL to its Advisory Board.

Dame Alison is Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching and a leading voice in education reform and leadership, with a lifelong commitment to empowering teachers and fostering creativity in young learners.

“Model Britain offers a unique opportunity to inspire curiosity, imagination and pride in our shared culture,” she said, “I am honoured to join this visionary project, which brings learning to life through creativity, storytelling and engineering excellence.

“Together, we can create experiences that spark ambition in every child and celebrate the incredible talent found across Britain.”

The £45m attraction will be 100,000 sq ft in size and is set to create 100s of jobs in the new city.

“Dame Alison embodies everything that Model Britain stands for — education, creativity, and national inspiration,” said Gary McCauley, founder & CEO of Model Britain.

“Her guidance will help us build an attraction that not only delights visitors but also serves as a powerful educational resource for schools and young people across the UK.”
