Howe Park Café in Westcroft reopens following break in over the weekend

    The popular café was forced to close on Sunday following the incident.

    Owners of the Howe Park Café, located on Howe Park Wood in Westcroft, were left devastated following the break-in overnight on Saturday.

    Posting on Facebook, the owners from Grumpy Cook said, ‘’Due to a break in overnight the cafe will be closed today (Sunday 26th May) Thank you for all your messages. It’s nice to know the cafe means so much to everyone."

    Local residents showed their support for the popular café, pledging to buy more tea and cake following the incident.

    Recently elected councillor James Lancaster said, ‘’This is awful! It really angers me people would do this! Hope they are caught soon. Hope you are OK and if you need anything let me know and I'm sure the community are also around to help.’’

    Resident Cynthia Betts said, ‘’Was eating cake there only yesterday. Will walk by tomorrow and if you are open will have two to make up for today. Make lots of cake, many others might do the same!!’’

    The Park’s Trust who own the building confirmed that police are investigating, anyone with any information is urged to call police on 101 quoting reference 4319 015 7991.
