A new city lady has launched a fundraiser to swell the coffers for a local charity that is making a difference to communities across Milton Keynes.
Jo’s Hope launched primarily to give much-needed support to cancer patients and their families, but founder Jo Tompkins has since expanded its offering, and is giving a much-needed supportive hand in many areas.
Jo’s Hope runs bargain shops offering everyday essentials at much-reduced prices, once a week it gives away free food, and at Christmas it delivered 46 hampers enabling recipients to enjoy a Christmas meal that would otherwise have been out reach.
The charity continues to be a resource for those with cancer, too - running a weekly support group, and delivering practical help with post-surgery bras offered to breast cancer patients.
Youngsters are catered for via its free weekly Musical Theatre Club, and a Helping Hands Wellbeing Coffee Morning is a place where everyone is welcome and loneliness is shown the door.
It is making an incredible difference to so many in our community, but the not-for-profit charity is in need of donations to ensure its work continues to positively impact as many people as possible.
Emma Endersby has benefitted from Jo’s Hope and set up the Go Fund Me page having seen first hand the difference the charity makes.
“Jo’s Hope charity is very close to my heart for a few reasons - my daughter is one of the many children who attend Jo’s musical theatre kids club. They meet weekly and attend free of charge and also have a hot meal included.
“Jo herself gave my daughter the confidence to be able to perform a freestyle contemporary dance in front of approximately 70 people, this was huge for my daughter who, before attending this club, found it difficult to even dance in front of me!
“I have so much admiration for the efforts Jo and the other volunteers go to in every area of Jo's Hope charity,” Emma told MKFM.
