Households in Milton Keynes could be eligible for Cold Weather Payment

As temperatures drop, Cold Weather Payments have been triggered for postcodes across the country.

This morning, Milton Keynes woke up to snow and icy temperatures like most of the UK.

Due to the freezing temperatures, the government will pay out an automatic £25 Cold Weather Payment to certain postcodes. These payments are automatic and will be available during each seven-day period of low temperatures, until March 31.

The Met Office has put a yellow warning in place across Milton Keynes and surrounding areas as temperatures have dropped below freezing.

Those eligible for the £25 cold weather pay out will receive one of the following benefit payouts:

    • Income-based jobseeker’s allowance
    • Income-related employment and support allowance
    • Universal credit
    • Support for mortgage interest
    • Pension credit
    • Income support

The DWP has confirmed postcodes that are eligible for this payout with thousands now owed.

You can check your postcode here.

"These additional payments provide support every year to help people experiencing the coldest weather. Cold weather payments can be triggered right through to the end of March, giving people facing disproportionately cold weather that extra reassurance over the chillier months," a Department for Work and Pensions spokesperson said.
