His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant cuts the ribbon on revamped Milton Keynes Meeting Place

Stacey Bushes Meeting Place officially re-opened on Monday.

It was the first chance for residents to check out the complete internal renovation which has transformed the building into a modern, inclusive, and fully accessible hub for all.

Countess Howe, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, cut the ribbon at the opening event, which was also attended by the Mayor of Milton Keynes, the Mayor of Wolverton, parish councillors, neighbourhood police, the dedicated project team, and, most importantly, members of the local community who will benefit from the revitalised centre.

This refurb was made possible by a £100,000 grant from the FCC Communities Foundation Limited.

Their support enabled vital improvements to the building’s layout, accessibility, and facilities, ensuring Stacey Bushes Meeting Place remains a welcoming and supportive space for years to come.

Wolverton and Greenleys Town Council, who took over management of the centre from Milton Keynes City Council in February 2023, has shown unwavering commitment to protecting and enhancing this vital community asset.

The Town Council will now expand the centre’s programme of activities and services, with upcoming offerings include Youth Boxing Sessions, a Knit and Natter group, a new Lunch Club, Arts & Crafts by Arts for Health, and twice-monthly advice sessions from Milton Keynes Citizens Advice Bureau, ensuring essential support is available at the heart of the community.

The centre reflects the strong demand for high-quality, accessible community space, and the Town Council welcomes suggestions to help shape future activities and opportunities.
