High street in Milton Keynes town prepares for Platinum Jubilee

Stony Stratford is nearly ready for the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

This year, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate seventy years of service, with a Platinum Jubilee. An extended bank holiday is being held from 2nd - 5th June 2022 with lots of celebrations planned for MK residents to mark this historic milestone.

In Stony Stratford, the flags are flying all around the town and red, white and blue bunting is decorating the High Street and many of the little courts and arcades nearby.

Stony Stratford’s Business Association is behind the display which will include flowering summer hanging baskets very soon too.

The decor has proved popular with residents with one saying: “Everyone felt so happy to see the bunting and flags go up again; it’s really lifted spirits here and you can see that by the smiles on people’s faces.”
