It has been confirmed that a H&M store in Milton Keynes will be closing ahead of the opening of a new shop in centre:mk.

Shoppers have recently spotted brand new posters going up on an empty unit in Milton Keynes shopping centre teasing the opening of a well-known high street fashion and homeware brand.

Posters have gone up in centre:mk advertising a brand new H&M store near Primark in centre:mk.

Milton Keynes is currently home to two H&M clothing stores, with one in Midsummer Place and one at MK1 Shopping Park.

The fashion and homeware giants have confirmed that its store in Midsummer Place will be closing.

"We will share details of the new store at centre:mk closer to the time of launch and can confirm the closure of the store at Midsummer Place however we cannot share an exact date at this time," a spokesperson said.

The company has said that the closure comes after seeing a 'rapid change' in customer behaviour that the brand 'cannot ignore'.

"We continuously need to evaluate and develop our business to meet our customers’ needs and offer the best possible shopping experience, whether it’s online or in our physical stores. Our ambition is to continue investing in our customers, open new stores where we see opportunities and develop our digital channels. We continuously evaluate how we should invest in stores and sometimes decisions must be made to enable long-term growth. This means that we sometimes need to open, close and refurbish stores.

"The physical store is still extremely important to us and will be a place for customers to shop, discover and be inspired."

The new store is set to open in centre:mk during April 2023, according to posters.

MKFM has also contacted centre:mk for more information.
