Gulliver's Land charity fun run raises vital funds for Milton Keynes charity

More than 300 fun runners have helped raise much-needed funds for Willen Hospice after a charity race hosted by Gulliver's Land.

The Milton Keynes-based theme park resort organised the colourful event to raise money for the local charity.

The charity race took place throughout the theme park, with participants taking a route around the park's thrilling rides and attractions.

£1,610 was raised for Willen Hospice by the participants.

From every £15 entry (which included theme park admission), £5 was donated to Willen Hospice, which provides free, palliative care to approximately 300 patients on its In-Patient Unit each year.

A further 700 patients are cared for in the community by the Willen at Home team.

Sue Conway, resort manager at Gulliver’s Land, said: “We were thrilled to see so many walkers, runners and their families at our annual charity fun run.

"We regularly partner with Willen Hospice and are well aware of the hugely important work they do in the Milton Keynes community. Thank you to everyone who took part in this special day to support the hospice."

Nikki Poole, Community Fundraising Manager at Willen Hospice, said: "We are so grateful to Gulliver's Land and their generous guests who signed up for the annual fun run.

"We rely on donations and more than six hundred volunteers to raise the £4.7 million we need every year to continue offering our free services. So events like this are crucial to raise funds that allow us to keep supporting individuals and their families in Milton Keynes."
