Gritters will be out across Milton Keynes this evening as weather warning remains in place

Gritting crews will be out across Milton Keynes today (8/2) as a yellow weather warning remains in place.

The Met Office has issued the warning for snow and ice set to last until Wednesday (10/2) with temperatures expected to drop as low as -4°c.

Crews from Ringway, which is responsible for maintaining the city's highways, will be out from 5pm gritting the main road network.

They have advised that residents should drive to the weather conditions and only go out if it is absolutely essential.

The gritters were also out from 2am today gritting the roads ahead of the snowfall.

Milton Keynes Council has announced that over 3,000 tonnes of rock salt has been used in the past few months to keep roads, redways, and footpaths safe.
