Get around MK launches new commuter engagement events across Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes City Council’s Get Around MK programme is set to launch a new series of commuter-focused engagement events this spring.

The programme offers tailored travel advice and on-the-ground support to help local employees discover easier, greener ways to travel.

The campaign will visit three key sites across Milton Keynes: Magna Park, Milton Keynes University Hospital and the Milton Keynes Job Centre.

Magna Park is one of the city’s largest employment sites. The Get Around MK team will host an engagement stand here aimed at supporting shift-based employees. The event will provide dedicated travel advice, route information, ticket advice and savings and opportunities to trial using the bus through the campaign’s taster ticket offer.

Similarly, the event at Milton Keynes University Hospital focuses on an organisation served by multiple bus routes, staff will have the opportunity to explore alternative travel options and receive personalised journey planning support.

Finally, our attendance at Milton Keynes Job Centre will allow us to engage with job seekers and new starters, providing advice and support on how to catch the bus to an interview, training, or their first week at work.

As part of the campaign, the Get Around MK team will also be attending the MK FM “Meet of MK” networking event on Thursday 26th March, where we will be engaging with business representatives from across Milton Keynes to discuss challenges or barriers faced by staff trying to get to work sustainably, but particularly by bus. We’ll also be sharing details of any future initiatives available to employers across the city to help encourage their staff to consider more sustainable travel options.

    The Commuter Campaign aims to:

    • Achieve an improved awareness of available bus services across Milton Keynes
    • Support employees and jobseekers to make cost-effective choices and to understand their ticket options
    • Build a stronger understanding of workplace bus travel needs and current services to open further conversations with MKCC and operators
