Funding to boost post-16 capacity at Milton Keynes school

Oakgrove School is set to receive extra funding from the Government to boost their post-16 capacity.

Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, wrote in support of the school’s proposals for an increase following a meeting with headteacher Ian Tett in January, with Oakgrove’s plans to provide extra support for SEND students a key focus.

Oakgrove is now one of just 44 schools across the entire country set to receive this funding for new classrooms and Science Labs, among other investment.

Ben Everitt MP said: “I’m absolutely delighted Oakgrove School will receive significant investment from the Government to increase its post-16 capacity – this is a huge boost for Milton Keynes.

“From my meetings at the school, I know the headteacher Ian Tett and so many others have worked so hard on this to ensure every child gets the best possible education so I can’t wait to see these plans in action.”

Robert Halfon, Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education, commented: “Supporting people from all backgrounds to embark on high-quality technical courses, armed with the skills they need to climb the ladder of opportunity, is crucial to building a world-class skills nation.

“Boosting funding to support the delivery of Higher Technical Qualifications and ensuring that schools and colleges have the space they need to provide all students with top notch training is an essential to achieving parity of esteem with traditional degrees and plugging skills gaps in key sectors.”
