Families in Milton Keynes are invited to step onto the court as 5 On It Foundation in partnership with Nutri Troops launches Nutri Hoops & Nutri Netters this weekend
The brand-new, high-energy sports programme is designed for toddlers and pre-school children aged 18 months to five years and their parents or guardians.
Launching this Saturday (Feb 21) at Oakgrove School, Nutri Hoops & Nutri Netters is a fun-filled sports experience designed to introduce young children to basketball, netball, movement and early healthy habits with their parents through play.
It has been created by an inspiring team of professional athletes who will deliver the programme; Peter Bakare, 2012 Team GB Olympian and Founder of Nutri Troops, Professional Basketballer Kai Williams, and International Barbados Netballer, Stacy Lloyd
The sessions focus on developing key transferable skills including balance, coordination, agility, listening, confidence and social interaction while keeping fun at the heart of everything. No experience is needed, families just come ready to move, laugh and enjoy time together.
Each session lasts 35 minutes and is tailored to children’s developmental stages:
- 9:35am – 10:10am
18 months – 2 years 5 months
- 10:15am – 10:50am
2½ – 3½ years
- 10:55am – 11:30am
3 years 7 months – 5 years (under 6 years)
Spaces are limited to ensure every child receives attention and support. Families can attend one week, all five weeks, or anything in between.
Nutri Hoops & Nutri Netters is open to families across Milton Keynes, particularly parents wanting quality time with their little ones, families introducing sport in a fun, pressure-free way, those looking for a positive Saturday morning activities and families supported through community organisations.
Sessions are inclusive, welcoming and designed so every child feels like a champion. All equipment is provided.
“Pre-school children often have little or no direct connection to sport and structured activity unless there is a cost involved,” said Peter, “This programme creates a wonderful, accessible pathway for families to come together, move, laugh and build healthy habits in a session that is perfectly designed for young children.”
Whilst the sessions are free, with support from MK Community Foundation, families who wish to, can make an anonymous, pay-what-you-can, donation to support the 5 On It Foundation and help keep programmes like this running across Milton Keynes.
