Key workers and informal carers who have an asymptomatic rapid COVID-19 test today (26/2) will receive a free reusable face mask.

This incentive has been introduced by Milton Keynes Council to encourage all people who cannot work from home during the pandemic to have a test.

Around one in three people who are infected with COVID-19 have no symptoms, therefore broadening testing to identify key workers showing no symptoms will mean finding positive cases more quickly.

The asymptomatic testing service, located within MK Central Library, uses lateral flow tests - which provide results in as little as an hour.

A spokesperson for Milton Keynes Council said: "Everyone being tested at our rapid test centre on Friday 26 Feb will receive a free reusable mask. We’re open to everyone who has to leave home to work in MK, and to informal carers."

To be tested, bring your work ID (if relevant) and a smartphone to the Central Library.

There is no need to book, and people can simply show up within the centre's opening hours which are:

    Monday 09:30 to 16:30, Tuesday 09:30 to 19:00, Wednesday 09:30 to 16:30, Thursday 09:30 to 19:00, Friday 09:30 to 16:30.

Free face masks will only be provided to those who have their asymptomatic COVID-19 test today (26/2).
