A man who used to teach Art and DT at Stantonbury Campus has made it to the final of Channel 4's The Great Pottery Throw Down.

Peter White, now 69, who lives in Woburn Sands, decided to return to university just before his 50th birthday to study ceramics and has been teaching visual arts ever since.

The much-loved teacher worked at Stantonbury Campus, now called Stantonbury International School, as an Art and DT teacher for nearly 20 years. Peter has since started his own business called Woburn Sands Clay.

The Great Pottery Throw Down sees amateur potters compete against eachother to impress the judges Keith Brymer Jones and Richard Miller in a Great British Bake Off style contest.

During the semi final, the contestants were asked to create a fully functional pedestal sink in their biggest challenge yet.

Peter managed to impress his way into the grand final where he will now compete against two fellow finalists for the crown.

In an Instagram post, Peter said: "I hope that i am able to inspire and encourage creativity in anyone of any age, background, disability, ability, knowledge or confidence.

"It doesn't matter what stage of life you are in- do what you love, love what you do and embrace life long learning!"

The grand final will air on Channel 4 on Sunday 14th March at 8:00pm.
