Former MK College apprentice shortlisted for national award

A former apprentice from MK College has made the shortlist for a national award which celebrates the achievements of apprentices within BAME communities.

Kimmy Kimani is a finalist in the Legal & Professional Services category of this year’s BAME Apprenticeship Awards, which celebrates the achievements of apprentices from across BAME communities, and the contribution of employers and learning providers who have helped them along their journey.

Kimmy recently completed a Business & Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship and is currently working in the College’s Student Engagement Team as a Support Coach.

“I am excited to be shortlisted because I really enjoyed my apprenticeship and I think that was reflected in my work. I learnt a lot through the process, especially in my final project around a lack of diversity in apprenticeships and workplaces,” said Kimmy.

“I couldn't have done it without my incredible apprenticeship mentor and the Student Engagement Team, who were so supportive and helped me every step of the way.”

Kimmy will find out if she has won at a glittering gala dinner in November.
