Children’s sports event kicks off in half term.
Football mad youngsters are being encouraged to sign-up to a one-off tournament experience organised by MK Dons Community Trust.
The city football club’s official charity has launched its own Soccer Schools International Tournament experience for boys and girls aged eight to 14. The scheme is available to players of all abilities.
It’s a chance for young players to train, play and work towards lifting the very first MK Dons Community International Tournament Trophy in the company of the Trust’s experienced and qualified coaches.
The two-day event, on 16th and 18th February (9am to 4pm) at Tattenhoe Sports Pavilion between, is also a chance for players to be observed by coaching staff and pathway leads searching for participants to join the Trust’s boys and girls pathway programmes.
Participants can attend either both dates or just one day. Sessions are fun, safe, inclusive and delivered in a high-energy environment with an emphasis on enjoyment, skill development and teamwork.
The tournament is a great way for those yet to experience the Trust’s youth football provisions to experience how they can take their game to the next level, says the club.
“We’re passionate about player development at MK Dons Community Trust,” said Dene Walsh, Head of Community Football. “That means providing high quality training for every participant we work with, regardless of their experience or ability.
“Half term represents a great opportunity for young football enthusiasts to get outside, make new friends and develop key skills which can be applied on and off the pitch. That’s the ultimate aim of our Soccer Schools International Tournament.
“Participants can expect fun, engaging, matches, plus high-quality technical practices and a positive environment where everyone can reach their true potential and collect a medal at the end of the day.
“We’re continually recruiting players we see potential in, to further support them in our boys and girls pathway programmes, so it’s an opportunity for every participant to showcase their skills and potentially begin a successful journey through our development centres.”
The Trust will also operate a special Goalkeeper Development Camp on both days, designed to support and challenge young shot-stoppers at Tattenhoe Sports Pavilion. Full details here.
Following lunch, goalkeepers will be integrated into the Soccer Schools International Tournament fixtures, allowing them to apply their learning in realistic match scenarios alongside outfield players.
Multi-sport camps will also be delivered at Tattenhoe Sports Pavilion between 16th and 20th February. Full details here.
