Flu jab: Which supermarkets are offering the vaccine in Milton Keynes?

Certain groups can get the flu jab for free on the NHS, but even those not eligible for the free dose can still receive a jab from places all over Milton Keynes.

Flu can cause severe illness, especially for people with underlying health conditions which is why it is important for people in at risk groups to get vaccinated.

Those eligible for the free flu vaccine are:

    • are 50 and over (including those who'll be 50 by 31 March 2022)
    • have certain health conditions
    • are pregnant
    • are in long-stay residential care
    • receive a carer's allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick
    • live with someone who is more likely to get infections (such as someone who has HIV, has had a transplant or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis)
    • frontline health or social care workers

Supermarket pharmacies including Tesco and Asda are joining GP practices and pharmacies in offering the vaccine this year as are Boots, Lloyds Pharmacy and Superdrug.

The move is part of a campaign partnership to boost the uptake of flu jabs and help save lives.

Those who are not eligible for the free flu jab can still get vaccinated by booking a private appointment at a supermarket or pharmacy.

Places offering private vaccine appointments this year include:

    • Asda
    • Tesco
    • Sainsbury's/Lloyds Pharmacy
    • Superdrug
    • Boots

    Prices range from £8-14.99.

The flu vaccination will not protect against coronavirus however those at higher risk from coronavirus, are also at higher risk of developing complications from flu.

All appointments can be made via supermarket websites or by calling their pharmacies.
