Stony Stratford in Bloom members certainly loved being beside the seaside last week – they were in Brighton for the National Finals of the Britain in Bloom Ceremony.
The team were awarded Gold at the event, and also received a special award for the heritage orchard at the North end of the town.
The ceremony, held at Brighton's Grand Hotel, saw all of the villages, towns and cities nominated to represent their regions come together for the award-giving.
“Stony in Bloom volunteers have worked tirelessly this year - and also other groups in the town, such as the Business Association, with their lovely hanging baskets, and Hazel Wallis's church gardens have contributed to our success - as well as the volunteers at the York house Community Gardens and the It's Your Neighbourhood groups in Fullers Slade, Galley Hill, The Rowans and the North end Pond and Wildlife Area,” said chairperson, Judy Deveson.
“Then there's the support from the Town Council and MKC Environmental Waste Department, and Millstream and Axiom and Allan, the Business Association waterer.
"And all the residents who keep their fronts looking good. And the residents who look after the Memorial Gardens, and the Claremont Community Garden and the Limes Community Garden and school children, Brownies, Cubs, Rainbows and Beavers... It's a great big community success!
"We're feeling pretty happy and proud,” she added.
