Flood warnings in place throughout some parts of Milton Keynes

Due to recent levels of heavy rainfall over the last week, an orange flood warning remains in place throughout some areas across Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

After some flooding throughout Milton Keynes over the last week, the government has decided to keep the orange flood warning for the River Great Ouse in place for the time being.

They warn that more flooding is possible and that residents should be prepared. This warning will mainly impact areas of northern Milton Keynes, such as Olney.

The flood warning reads: “River levels remain high at the Bedford river gauge. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland remains possible today.

"We expect flooding to affect the River Great Ouse from Newport Pagnell to Roxton. Further light rainfall/snow is forecast over the next 24 hours.

"We expect river levels to remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.”

Further updates are expected early tomorrow morning (11/02).
