Firefighters have a busy start to 2026 in Milton Keynes

The new year has been a busy one for firefighters across the new city, whose services have been called upon to deal with a variety of issues.

Appliances from Broughton, West Ashland and Newport Pagnell were called to tackle a fire within a bin store on the ground floor of a high rise building at Staverton Grove in Broughton, and a tractor fire at Calverton was brought under control with a hose reel jet, small tools and a thermal imaging camera.

The West Ashland team were on hand to deal with a vehicle fire which had spread to a nearby garage at Haddock in Bletchley, before a crew later dealt with a fire in a living room of a residential property.

Last night, firefighters from Newport Pagnell and West Ashland were called to an unattended bonfire in a field at Church Lane in Lathbury.

They used the wildlife unit to extinguish the fire.
