Fire crews were called to an address in Milton Keynes yesterday (25/2).

Emergency services were called after a fire broke out in a household oven.

Fire engines were called to an address in Bletchley at around 8:37am on Friday 25th February.

Two fire engines and crews from West Ashland attended.

The fire was out when they arrived and firefighters used small tools to help them remove the cooker from the house.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue say that cooking appliances were identified as the cause of 45 percent of all accidental house fires in 2020/21.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue tips of what to do if a fire breaks out in the kitchen:

    • Switch off the oven and hob when you have finished cooking or when you leave the kitchen
    • Keep electrical leads, tea towels, dishcloths and other items which could catch fire away from the cooker or hob
    • Keep the oven, hob, toaster and grill clean – a build-up of fat, crumbs or grease can catch fire
    • Ensure you have working smoke alarms on each level of your home and test them every month
    • Consider requesting a Fire and Wellness Visit to review fire precautions within your home and receive additional advice and guidance
