Firefighters called to field blazes in Milton Keynes

Firefighters in Milton Keynes were called to deal with two incidents of field fires in Milton Keynes yesterday.

Crews from Broughton and Newport Pagnell were joined by the WildFire Unit from West Ashland and a Water Carrier Unit from Kempston, creating a fire break using mechanical farm equipment to prevent the fire spreading further.

Approximately one hectare of uncut crop had been ablaze in Bay Lane, Ravenstone.

Later, they attended a second incident, at East End in North Crawley, using three hose reels, one main jet and beaters to extinguish a fire affecting a field and approximately two hundred metres of hedgerow.
