Fire crews attend Milton Keynes car blaze

Garage and property also affected in incident.

Fire crews were called to a car blaze on a driveway yesterday as flames threatened to destroy another car, a garage and the home.

Two units from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s West Ashland station were called to the blaze.

They discovered the fire had affected a nearby garage door, a second car and the first floor balcony of a two storey detached property, in Cruickshank Grove, Crownhill.

The engine compartment of one car was completely damaged by fire while the vehicle’s interior was seriously affected, as was the second vehicle, which sustained ‘30% fire damage’.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus sets, a hose reel jet, short extension ladder and tools to bring the blaze under control.

“Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time for damping down and checking for hotspots,” said a spokesperson. “Home fire safety advice was also provided to the occupiers.”
