Festive Family Fun Day in Milton Keynes town cancelled due to weather warnings

Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council has had to cancel the festive event that was meant to take place tomorrow.

Severe weather warnings have been put in place tomorrow for Milton Keynes and the rest of the country.

The Met Office are forecasting winds of up to 80mph in some northern parts of the country, with yellow warnings in place for Milton Keynes this weekend.

In a statement released by the Town Council, a spokesperson said: "We are extremely disappointed to tell you that the Festive Family Fun Day, planned for Saturday 27th November 2021, has been cancelled due to the severe weather warnings about Storm Arwen.

"This decision has not been made lightly. The Town Council was looking forward to bringing a big community event to Queensway this year and we had lots of exciting attractions planned for all the family. However public safety is the paramount consideration and the strong likelihood of high winds means we cannot go ahead. The same decision has been made by several of our neighbouring communities and councils.

"The Town Council hopes to bring alternative events to Queensway in the future and we are very sorry that people will be disappointed this weekend."
