Father of fatally stabbed 18-year-old joins police during operation to tackle knife crime in Milton Keynes

Thames Valley Police were joined by Jason Fathers on one of their targeted patrols in MK during an operation to reduce knife crime.

At just before 3am on New Years’ Day this year, officers were called to reports of an altercation in Walshs Manor, Stantonbury.

Jay Fathers, who was 18-years-old, was located at the scene with serious stab wounds and was being treated by his friends and paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.

Tragically, Jay later died at Milton Keynes University Hospital of his injuries.

A 21-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment for his murder in October this year.

Jay's dad, Jason Fathers, has been campaigning to help tackle knife crime in Milton Keynes and across the country.

Thames Valley Police said: "Jason joined local teams, mounted officers and roads policing officers as they conducted patrols around Greenleys and explained work that is being done across Milton Keynes to take knives off the streets and to stop young people from feeling they need to carry one.

"Hearing how knife crime has impacted Jason and his family was a stark reminder of why operations like these are important and how working together can stop serious violence taking place in our communities."
