Families urged to donate winter coats to Milton Keynes reuse project

As we reach the time of year where the weather only gets colder, many families are out shopping for new big winter coats.

And rather than binning the old coats, people are being encouraged to donate them to a local not-for-profit organisation that sells pre-loved items at heavily discounted prices.

The Reuse Community Project, based in Kiln Farm, works to divert clothing, furniture and other items from landfill to family homes.

This means that low-income households can access things that they otherwise might not have been able to afford, including school uniforms.

This Winter, the Reuse Community Project are running a new Winter Coat Appeal. A spokesperson said: "We are taking in donations of good condition winter coats, wellies, hats, scarves and gloves so we can give them out for free to children within the community who's parents may not be able to afford new.

"There is no referral needed so people can just turn up to the store."

The project are in need of the following items in good condition and children's sizes:

    • Coats
    • Hats
    • Wellies
    • Gloves
    • Scarves

All donations can be made to 16 Burners Lane, Kiln Farm, MK11 3HB Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm Sunday 11am to 4pm.

The team at The Reuse Community Project ask that clothing is washed beforehand.
