Families urged to donate old school uniforms to Milton Keynes reuse project that helps those in need

Now that we have reached the end of the school year, families will be getting ready to swap their children's old school uniforms for new ones.

And rather than binning the unwanted clothes, people are being encouraged to donate them to a local not-for-profit organisation that sells pre-loved items at heavily discounted prices.

The Reuse Community Project, based in Kiln Farm, works to divert clothing, furniture and other items from landfill to family homes.

This means that low-income households can access things that they otherwise might not have been able to afford, including school uniforms.

"Would you consider donating your old uniforms to us?" said a spokesperson for the project. "Lots of you will be clearing out your old uniforms ready to buy new bits and schools will be clearing out their lost property boxes."

They explained how the uniforms will go to good use: "Any uniform donated will be given to families that may not be able to afford it otherwise.

"We will be donating all of our children's uniforms that no longer fit and we hope lots of you can do the same.

"Just drop off during our opening hours and we will do the rest."

Families that are interested in donating old school uniforms can donate plain clothing and clothing with school logos on them.

The uniforms can be dropped off to 16 Burners Lane, Kiln Farm, MK11 3HB from Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
