Essential works taking place at Milton Keynes Hospital

Visitors to Milton Keynes Hospital have been warned of some essential works taking place.

A spokesperson for Milton Keynes University Hospital tweeted today (27/6): 'If you are coming to the hospital today, we are undertaking some essential planned infrastructure works, ahead of the opening of our new Maple Centre later this year.

'The works will be taking place as you enter and exit the site from Standing Way.'

The new 'Maple Unit' has has been built in place of the original Pathway Unit. With 16 assessment rooms, the new unit aims to take the pressure off of the main A&E services.

Starting last Saturday 25th June, MK University Hospital has began work on essential infrastructure to take the Maple Centre online.

Works will be taking place over the following dates:

    • Phase 1: 25th to 29th June
    • Phase 2: 2nd to 6th July
    • Phase 3: 9th to 13th July
    • Phase 4: 16th to 20th July

A spokesperson said: "During these planned works, there will be some disruption to staff and visitors entering the site off Standing Way (H8) as the contractors will be working in the road from the roundabout (known as ‘Stone Henge’) down towards the Maple Centre.

"The area where the work will take place is marked in red on the map below, with contractors starting from the position closest to the Maple Centre location and working back over the following weeks."
