Engaged couple run 5k for Willen Hospice on what was supposed to be their wedding day

Glenn Cook and Emma Nash decided to beat the wedding day blues by taking part in a sponsored 5k for Willen Hospice.

The couple raised £1,400 (and counting) on their run through their home village of Stoke Hammond on Wednesday (27/5), which they dedicated as the launch event of the Cook Investment Group’s annual charity fundraising drive - targeting £5,000 for Willen Hospice by the end of June.

Glenn said: “While Emma and I are among thousands of disappointed couples whose weddings have been postponed because of coronavirus, we knew that charities like Willen Hospice are really struggling to raise funds at this time, and decided we should do our bit by launching the Group’s fundraising campaign.”

Glenn is a medical recruitment company director, and every staff member of Group agencies National Locums, Locum People and Mediteam have been set a challenge to also walk or run five kilometres and then persuade five others to do the same. Additional events, including divisional online quizzes via Zoom, will culminate in a Group-wide quiz evening.

The programme is being driven by a social media campaign with the hashtag #5KFORWILLEN, and money is being channelled through a company Just Giving page.
