Children’s charity in spotlight at next business networker.
A group that supports seriously ill children, babies, and young people in Milton Keynes will be the next charity to be highlighted at the popular Meet of MK networking event.
Emily’s Star, a ‘small but mighty’ MK-based charity dedicated to supporting children and their families living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, is the latest locally based organisation to benefit from MKFM’s monthly Meet of MK business gatherings.
As well as bringing the city’s business community together for food, drink and discussion, the evening event gives even more back to the city and its people – especially charities – by raising awareness and funds for local good causes.
Katie Mainwaring, founder and CEO of Emily’s Star, will be among the guest speakers on the night, talking to more than 200 guests about the good work her charity does. The organisation will also benefit from a monthly raffle and donations to raise vital funds.
For the past 13 years, Emily’s Star has supported more than 10,000 families through practical assistance, emotional support, and strong community connections. Its work includes providing vital care and comfort from birth up to the age of 25, as well as emergency neonatal packs for premature babies, delivered to hospitals across the UK.
Emily’s Star is the only charity in the UK to offer the neonatal care packs through a fully postable system, allowing them to reach families in hospitals across the country.
“At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to compassion, dignity, and ensuring no family faces these challenges alone,” said Katie.
MKFM decided to use Meet of MK evenings to raise awareness and funds for local good causes earlier this year. Since then, attendees at the busy meetings have been asked to donate to the chosen charity of the month.
And the business community has responded brilliantly, helping the popular radio station and news hub to raise more than £4,000 for the charity partners.
“Being part of the MKFM Business Club for 2026 gives our small but mighty charity an incredible opportunity to raise awareness across Milton Keynes,” added Katie.
MKFM offers a charity discount to organisations joining its Business Club. The Club gives additional benefits over simply having an invitation to the Meet of MK.
MKFM’s ‘Meet of MK’ gathers every month at an exciting Milton Keynes venue. The next event will be on Thursday 29th January 2026, 5-8pm. Both the venue and charity of the month will be announced soon. For more details or to book tickets, visit: www.mkfm.com/events/mkfms-meet-of-mk.
