EFL league title given to Milton Keynes school

Denbigh School’s Football Academy crowned EFL Football League Champions at Wembley.

Denbigh School’s Football Academy students are champions of the EFL U19 Regional CEFA (Community & Education Football Alliance) Football League for the second year running and received their winners’ medals and trophy at Wembley, prior to kick off at the EFL League One Play Off Final between Charlton FC and Leyton Orient FC.

The boys played superbly all season, retaining the title by achieving 28 points from 12 games.  Olly Awujo was top scorer with 18 goals, followed by captain Kyle Johnson who scored 11.  Denbigh’s Football Academy, which is the most established Post-16 provider of Football Education within Milton Keynes having been established in 1999, works in partnership with the MK Dons Sport & Education Trust (MK Dons SET) and this allows its Academy students to compete in this competitive regional league.

Malcolm Lay, Denbigh’s Football Academy Director who accompanied the students to Wembley said: ‘We are incredibly proud of this Team who have worked so hard to retain the EFL league title they first won last year.  They fully deserved their celebratory day out at Wembley watching the League One Play Off Final and receiving their winners’ medals from Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer.’
