Drivers who participated in an unauthorised car meet in Milton Keynes are set to face legal consequences, with potential fines, driving disqualifications, and criminal records on the line.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) Roads Policing investigated the incident, which occurred on Saturday, August 17, in Bletchley, Milton Keynes. The event resulted in thousands of pounds worth of damage to a car park and several vehicles, with drivers engaging in extremely dangerous behaviour that posed a threat not only to themselves but also to spectators and the public.
Upon the police's arrival, the participants fled the scene, joined by approximately 100 spectators. The same group later converged at another location in Magna Park, where they repeated their reckless actions, disrupting local businesses in the process.
As part of Operation Chromium, TVP’s ongoing initiative to combat illegal street racing and vehicular anti-social behaviour, officers have taken a firm stance against such activities. Since the incident, all vehicles involved have been identified, located, and seized in areas including Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, London, and Essex.
The identified drivers are now facing prosecution for a range of offenses, including dangerous driving, criminal damage, and causing a public nuisance. When they appear in court, they could be handed criminal records, driving bans, significant fines, or even imprisonment. Additionally, TVP will seek forfeiture orders for the seized vehicles to ensure they are permanently removed from the roads and destroyed.
TVP Roads Policing said, “If you’re considering coming to the Thames Valley for unauthorised car meets, think again. We will use all available resources to prosecute and remove the most dangerous drivers from the road. The message is clear: if you value your license and your vehicle, stay away.”
This incident serves as a strong warning to those involved in illegal car meets that authorities are prepared to take swift action to ensure public safety and hold offenders accountable.
