Dorothy Perkins and Burton stores in Milton Keynes to permanently close

Online fashion giant Boohoo has bought the remaining brands within Sir Philip Green's failed Arcadia empire, but they will be online only.

This comes just one week after it was announced fellow online retailer ASOS had bought Topshop, also previously owned by Sir Green, yet the £330m deal did not include its stores.

It has been announced that Boohoo has purchased Dorothy Perkins, Burton and Wallis for £25m.

This deal will save the brands from administration but means that they must too shift to online-only, and over 200 high street stores must close, with thousands of jobs lost.

Two of these stores are in Milton Keynes, and there are also a number of concessions. There is currently one Dorothy Perkins store along Queensway in Bletchley, and a Burtons shop in Central Milton Keynes.

Tesco at the Kingston Centre is also home to Wallis and Dorothy Perkins, but these will have to close.

Separately, Boohoo has paid £55m to acquire the brand of collapsed department store chain Debenhams in a transaction which will see 118 stores close.

Milton Keynes was previously home to the multi-storey department store at intu Milton Keynes but this closed in 2020 as the chain went into administration.
