Dons lose crucial game in relegation battle

MK Dons lose 1-0 away at Oldham Athletic and are now 6 points off safety.

Struggling Oldham's 39th minute corner was enough to to secure victory against MK Dons.

The pitch at Boundary Park was in a terrible state and Micciche knows that affects the performance, "We knew it was very scrappy, the pitch is practically unplayable, it’s the type of game that gets decided by a set piece; unfortunately they’re the ones that scored it. I'm so frustrated that we conceded from a set piece we do so much work on that and we haven’t taken advantage of our set pieces"

It looked like a game between two struggling sides as there was very little in the way of chances. Aneke had an early shot for MK Dons before going off injured after 10 minutes. Ike Ugbo also had a first half shot but was blocked by Keiran Agard being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

And tonight's style of play isn't what Dan wants from the club, "That’s not how I want our teams to play but the pitch was so bad that if forced you into a certain style of play. Things just aren’t going for us and we have to find a way on Saturday to score goals and win the match because we have to start picking up points immediately"

Luck's not falling for MK Dons at the moment as Dan Micciche's now lost all 4 of his games in charge since taking over from Robbie Neilson in January.

Without a shot in the second half, the Dons boss knows that they need to do better, "We’ve got to be better and we had a plan from halftime about how we were going to do that and we didn’t help ourselves at times, whether it be a basic pass breaking down or the final ball not getting past the first man, the ball just isn’t dropping for us. But we can't feel sorry for ourselves because the ball did drop for us last week and we didn’t score."

They next face Karl Robinson's Charlton at Stadium:MK on Saturday.
