Dog walkers share concern as red chili peppers are regularly scattered along popular Milton Keynes walking route

The stretch of the canal where the chilis have been found

Dog walkers claim that random loose red chili peppers have been appearing along a popular walking route.

This has reportedly been happening for the past three weeks along a section of the Grand Union Canal in Woolstone, which sees hundreds of dog walkers pass through every day.

One concerned dog walker told MKFM that these chilis are placed at the stump of every other tree. Some of the chilis are hidden under leaves, while others are in clear sight - but they are never on the path, and always by the adjacent and easily accessible trees.

The community has been picking up and disposing of the chilis, but they will reappear the following day.

Residents from Woolstone believe that this could potentially be someone intentionally placing them there to harm dogs.

If dogs consume a whole red chili pepper, or multiple, then it is likely to have a negative impact. Red chili peppers are not lethal to dogs, but the spice can cause burning and irritation to the dog’s digestive system, leading to pain, diarrhea, and vomiting.

The origin and the purpose of these strange happenings remain unknown, but dog walkers are encouraged to be vigilant whilst walking along the canal from Woolstone to Springfield.
