Developer wants to build 113 more houses in Newton Leys due to 'overwhelming popularity'

Taylor Wimpey is currently drawing up plans for 113 new homes on land within the new community, which lies to the south of Bletchley.

And now the developer is inviting people to have their say on the proposals.

Taylor Wimpey originally received planning permission to build 1,650 new homes at Newton Leys, with the final phases covered by the permission due to be completed in 2024.

They say that due to the "overwhelming popularity" with property seekers, they are now seeking full planning permission for the additional 113 homes on a parcel of land known as Phase 7B, which lies to the west of Spring Walk Phase 7A, within the original land designated for development. Phase 7B will form a natural extension to Spring Walk and complete Phase 7 as a whole.

As Phase 7B will be a separate planning application from the initial 1,650 homes Taylor Wimpey is constructing at Newton Leys, it will see the developer contribute additional funding for community services, via a Section 106 agreement.

The proposals for Phase 7B include 78 homes available for private sale and 35 affordable properties, with a mix of two, three and four-bedroom designs. Parking, including spaces for visitors, plus an area of open space, are also included in the plans.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Taylor Wimpey will be holding a public consultation for the proposals online, between Monday 12th and Sunday 25th October. Visitors to the consultation website will be able to view the plans and provide their feedback, before a planning application is submitted to Milton Keynes Council.

Emma Walton, Senior Planning Manager at Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, says: “As a considerate, responsible developer, we want to give people the chance to have their say on development plans for their area.

“Anyone who visits our consultation website will be able find out more about our proposals and provide their feedback to help us develop and refine the emerging scheme.”

The consultation website, www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/newtonleys7b will be live from Monday 12 October.
