Curry Queen winner plans a special community Christmas dinner for Milton Keynes residents

Award-winning restaurateur Naseem Khan has just cooked up another win - taking the title of Curry Queen at this year's 10th Asian Food & Restaurant Awards, which were held in London earlier this month.

"I am over the moon to be crowned Curry Queen again," said Naseem, who runs the Namji Restaurants in Central Milton Keynes and Wolverton.

“This award means even more as it has been a very tough year for business, and I am always humbled by the support of the community who step up to support us - this award is for those people. And no matter how difficult things get, I am committed to the charity work that I do.”

It is the third time Naseem has won the title, and she is celebrating in her usual style - by giving back to the community.

On Boxing Day Naseem will be in the kitchen preparing a feast for a special Christmas meal.

"I invite any homeless people, struggling families or anyone experiencing loneliness to come and join us," she said, "Christmas is a time of togetherness and celebration and that shouldn't be for some, but for everyone.

Bridget Lewis, who manages Wolverton's working men's club, has offered to host the event at the venue.

"I feel there are people who don't get enough social interaction on a daily basis, and Naseem and I have done this a few times for struggling families and others.

“She is the loveliest lady ever, and so kind hearted," said Bridget, who also supports the community with her own charitable ventures, and officially in her capacity as Town Mayor.

The boxing day feast - happening between midday and 2pm - will bring cheer and a touch of spice to the season of goodwill, and will be free to attend.

"Bridget and I love being able to spread a little joy, and this is the perfect way to do that," Naseem added.

"Good food is a universal language that everyone can understand. Wolverton has a wonderful community with a warm heart and we want to reach out to everyone in need - our door is open and there is a warm welcome waiting for you."
