The Progressive Alliance has today announced the Council’s ‘ambitious and innovative’ corporate priorities for the next four years.
The Labour and Liberal Democrat-run Progressive Alliance says it will work 'cross-party for the benefit of the city, while ensuring the Council continues to deliver high-quality core services and provides support for those who need it'.
The Council Plans outline how the administration will transform Milton Keynes into a thriving, progressive and sustainable city.
The plan also outlines other priorities and outcomes that it wants to see by 2026, including:
- Improved access to affordable housing
- Delivery of regeneration and renewal
- A strong and robust economy
- High-quality placemaking and well-planned growth
- Milton Keynes as a centre of culture and creativity
- Excellent services for children and young people
- Mitigating the rise in child poverty and the impact of the cost-of-living crisis
- A more equal, diverse and inclusive Milton Keynes that welcomes and supports everyone
- A cleaner and safer MK
- Improved health and wellbeing
- Sustainable public transport and mobility
- Mitigating the impact of climate change
Following last month's local elections, despite Conservative Group being the largest party, Labour and the Lib Dems have remained together to hold the most amount of seats.
The plan states that 'Milton Keynes is acknowledged as being the most successful new town in the UK, and successful cities typically have strong leadership that works together.
'The Labour Group and Liberal Democrat Group have established a Progressive Alliance to form a majority administration and will continue to provide a stable political environment over the coming years, delivering strong leadership for Milton Keynes, to continue its success and address the challenges.'
The Council Plan is set to be brought to Full Council on next Wednesday, 15th June.
