Council orders more lateral flows as Central Milton Keynes Library runs out

Milton Keynes Central library has given away thousands of lateral flow tests this week, leading to them running out.

This comes as more people are now testing daily due to new government guidelines.

From yesterday (22/12), the self-isolation period for people in England has been cut from 10 days to seven for those who can produce negative lateral flow results on both day six and their final day of quarantine.

It is also recommended that everybody takes a LFT before meeting up with friends and family this Christmas to help reduce the spread.

A spokesperson for Milton Keynes Council said: "Over the last couple of days we have given out thousands of lateral flow tests (LFTs) to people in Milton Keynes.

"We are waiting on delivery of more lateral flow tests - we will update when they're in stock again, for collection from Central MK Library."

Last week, ordering lateral flow tests on the gov.uk website was temporarily suspended to fulfil existing orders "due to exceptionally high demand".

MKFM will update when the tests are back in stock.
