Council leader says they have been supporting one workplace with a 'very small number' of COVID cases

In today's weekly update, Cllr Pete Marland has announced that Milton Keynes Council has been supporting one workplace with a 'very small number' of coronavirus cases.

The workplace in question has not been revealed, but Cllr Marland has told the public that the overall risk in the community remains "moderate". He said: "We have been supporting one workplace with a very small number of positive tests, however the overall risk in Milton Keynes remains moderate. In the example of the workplace we are supporting, the people with positive tests have travelled to work from outside of Milton Keynes."

Cllr Marland has highlighted the importance of continuing to follow social distancing guidelines to prevent further spread of the virus. He continued: "As we all go to places where we cannot control who we meet, it is still the case that an outbreak can spike quickly and the virus will spread.

"While it may sound like you have heard this so many times already, it is still important to follow social distancing. Keep two metres away from people if at all possible and wash your hands on a regular basis."

In the past two weeks, just over 3,000 tests have been carried out in Milton Keynes with 12 of these being confirmed as positive.

Cllr Marland continued to state that the number of cases in the general population is "low" and the number of cases in care homes and the hospital is "very low".
