Clean up teams have been busy refreshing parts of Central Milton Keynes which normally wouldn’t be possible during busier times.

As the nation prepares to come out of lockdown, Milton Keynes Council is spending £75,000 to support businesses in CMK to encourage people back to the city centre when it is safe to do so.

    The clean-up includes...

    - Running a programme of cleaning underpasses and using material that is graffiti resistant

     - Focus on the removal of graffiti which is all part of keeping MK cleaner and greener

    - Every single tree has been pruned

    - Removed weeds and deep cleaned the junctions across CMK

    - Working with the Business Improvement District to roll out an ongoing programme of repainting street furniture

    - Other plans for sprucing up CMK includes deep cleaning Station Square and landscape improvements

Cllr Emily Darlington, Cabinet Member for the Public Realm, said: “Crews have taken advantage of quieter times in CMK to clean up and in preparation of the easing of the current lockdown.

“We are also meeting with businesses and parishes on our historic high streets to support them to reopen and thrive while promoting residents safe return to shopping.

“We are committed to improve the look and feel of central Milton Keynes and welcoming residents and visitors back when they are able to.”
