Conspiracy leaflets branding pandemic a 'hoax' are being delivered to Milton Keynes homes

Residents have reported receiving coronavirus conspiracy leaflets through their door which claim the pandemic is a 'hoax'.

Leaflet droppers have been doing the rounds in Wolverton during the past week, even causing one of Milton Keynes MPs to address the ongoing issue.

Dozens of people report receiving a leaflet that states "COVID-19 was planned", and similar posters have been cropping up across the town.

One poster, as seen by MKFM, has the words "hoax", "new world order", "lies", and "propaganda" printed in bold letters on the page.

It also incorrectly claims that "lockdowns have killed more people than they have saved", and says "you are being played for a fool, wake up". It encourages people to "boycott politics", "boycott mainstream media", and "boycott the banks".

This comes just weeks after houses in local estates received a newspaper called 'The Light' which was spreading further conspiratorial claims.

Those who have been circulating the posters and leaflets appear to share similar views to protestors who took to Milton Keynes Council's Civic Offices twice in 2020.

The most recent protest, led by Piers Corbyn, took place in August 2020 where dozens of mask-free people campaigned for topics including anti-5G, anti-lockdown, anti-vaccine and anti-mask.

But one of Milton Keynes MPs, Ben Everitt, has taken to social media to remind people that COVID-19 is not a hoax. He backed up his statement by sharing the latest data showing patients in mechanical ventilation beds at Milton Keynes Hospital, which has massively increased over the past two months.

He also shared a video message where he put it bluntly: "It is not a hoax. It is a pandemic, it's a very serious virus, it is spreading very rapidly and these measures that we are taking whilst regrettable are absolutely necessary. We need to make sure follow the rules, that we stay home, we stay safe, protect the NHS, and save lives.

"So please follow the rules, don't believe conspiracy theories, and stay safe."
