Congratulations to Jacob Provan MK Community Foundation's Bursary Winner

Jacob is the 2018 Adams Engineering Prize winner. The bursary was presented at Woburn Sculpture Gallery as part of the Milton Keynes College Student of the Year Awards on Thursday 24th May 2018.

The Adams Engineering Prize was created to inspire and encourage aspiring young engineering students at MK College who demonstrate originality, innovation and creative problem solving in their course work.

The Adams Engineering Prize, first awarded in 2013, is supported by David and Jennifer Adams, long-term supporters of MK Community Foundation’s work.

Jacob has just completed his Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering and is hoping to move on to an Apprenticeship. Jacob presented his innovative 3D printer that he made from scratch, including all the components, demonstrating excellent engineering skills and enthusiasm for his work.

In this sixth year of the prize, the panel were looking for a practical and innovative engineering solution, presented in a clear and persuasive manner. The standard of all the entries was very high this year with all the finalists delivering strong presentations, and demonstrating an aptitude for creativity in engineering.

Jacob says of his winning, "I'm really pleased to have been awarded the Adams Engineering Prize for 2018. I will be using the bursary to further my 3D printer kit design with the end goal in teaching young students the importance of CAD design, as well as to make it fun and interesting with every lesson and model they create.”

Laura Berrisford, Philanthropy Manager at MK Community Foundation says, "It was brilliant to be on the panel for this year's Adams Engineering Prize, seeing the great work of some of MKs budding young engineers. Jacob is a fantastic winner, and it was lovely to be able to sit with his very proud parents and present him with the award at MK College Student of the Year. We are really looking forward to seeing where the future takes Jacob."

MK Community Foundation is proud to support talented young people in Milton Keynes and would like to thank David and Jennifer Adams for making this prize possible. We wish Jacob every success with the next step of his engineering career.
