Concerns raised over proposed changes to bus services in Milton Keynes area

A number of local residents have expressed concerns over proposed changes to a number of bus services in our city, with one describing the proposals as ‘ridiculous’.

Newport Pagnell residents have expressed the most concern towards the proposals, with the town set to lose its primary Service 1 route, which will now run between Milton Keynes and Bletchley only.

Residents will now be required to take Route 2 into the City Centre with onward connections available towards Bletchley.

One local resident commented that the proposals lead “such a poor service” towards the Renny Lodge area of the town, with concerns also raised about onward travel from Newport Pagnell towards MK College and local schools.

Another resident commented: “[I] feel sorry for [the] school children and residents being crammed [on] or missing the only bus in that slot.”

Newport Pagnell South Ward councillors have arranged a meeting with Arriva for next week to put across resident’s concerns.

Cllr Paul Alexander, a regular bus user himself, is leading on this issue for ward councillors. The Town Council have also been invited to attend this meeting.

The changes are due to be implemented from Sunday 29th October.
